Shaggy Me
I always feel weird about posting my own photo, and when people say "You're always taking other people's photos. here let me take yours", I usually decline. I do have a few recent photos of myself though, and there are a few readers who may be interested to see what I look like (although the only ones I can think of are mom and dad, and they're coming to Japan in a few weeks), so rather than feeling weird several times, I have decided to post all the photos of me right here and now.
The other excuse is that today I trimmed my beard and shaved my head again. I took my two months in the mountains as an excuse to see how shaggy I could get without having to look "proper" for a meeting or what not. It seems that I am not the most "manly" guy around - I did not get that shaggy, just ugly unkempt.
If nothing else, this will serve as a reminder for me in the future not to try that again.
Unfortunately, I have no new photo of me after my touch up today.

Hi Kevin... as usual it's been a while. Dropped by a few weeks ago and saw your mountain photos. I can't tell you how utterly jealous I am of your lifestyle. More than ever I want to get to living as much as possible that way, but for right now I'm more or less stuck with this new university job... that I don't think I will last too long in. I truly, deeply need to be outdoors as much as possible. Very much like you. I'm even thinking of taking an Outward Bound course sometime and getting certified. I'm planning, if possible, a long walk in the summer, perhaps the Camino de Santiago, or the Kungsladen in Sweden, or something like the Appalachian or PCT in 2008.
Been wondering ever since our talk in the summer whether we will ever get to meeting and making some of what we said real. We keep starting up a small conversation and then disappearing into the woodwork. I hope that it's more than just talk. I'd like to talk with you if just to learn a bit more about how you get all this special information about programs and acticities in Japan.
Anyway, you don't look half bad in your "shaggy" mode. Don't knock how you might look to others!
