Life Is Good
A night in our house. While I sometimes feel ashamed to admit little we get done in a day, on the other hand I am proud to admit that we We woke up at 9am, had breakfast and checked mail before getting to the day's chores by 10. I worked on the chicken coop (requiring an hour bike-ride to the hardware shop to buy more nails) and Tomoe did whatever she does. After a great lunch together, I went back to the construction, and Tomoe stored the daikon for the winter.
When it was all over Tomoe enjoyed a relaxing newspaper-reading by the fire, while I tried to catch-up on my overdue homework - reading The Baby Book. interesting and gives me confidence. Most of it seems to me to be common sense, but it is nice to hear that some "expert" agrees with what we thought was natural. (there is also some good info in there).
The photos are of Tomoe chilling out in front of the fire, and one of the almost complete chicken coop.

What a magical time for you two. Enjoy the moments! Is there a hospital close-by when the time comes?
Lovely photos of Tomoe-san. Did you buy the stove online? I would love a stove like that.

Your photography is brilliant and your English is excellent too. I liked all of the pictures.
These are beautiful photographs. I like the blog layout too. I am not sure, of course, if you like old photography or that like we used to take over 50 years ago while in Japan, but there is some I did with others at my Sendai-shi, Japan blog.

What could be better than an afternoon snooze in a massage chair?

Shannon, not a massage chair, but that is an excellent idea! This is an old office chair we bought a few years ago when mom and dad visited Tokyo. At that time we only had hard-backed kitchen chairs, so stopped by at the local junk shop and picked it up for $20. My favorite chair since, and Tomoe's favorite chair now.
WF, we did get the stove online, but they also sell it at our nearby hardware store, just cheaper and easier to get it online. It cost about $270, but is way more efficient in terms of wood usage, and stays warm a lot longer than the $30 tin one we used last year.
With the baby coming and midnight wakeups, we figured it would be nice if the room stays warm even after the fire is dead, and we just throw a new log on every time we have to get up.

Abe, I almost deleted your comment as spam when I saw the name, but I checked your site and spent quite a while there. Great image of after the war! I see a lot of similarities with Sendai then, and the almost disappeared life here.
