Saturday Afternoon in Medaimae

Last Saturday I went for a walk in a nearby neighborhood looking for a photo of a door for the Japan Photography mailing lists "Door in Japan" photo scrim. I didn't get any good door shots, but I found some other things of interest.

It's a lot of photos to put on one page, and the other day someone noted how heavy my site was getting. I just can't help it. I can't trust my users to go into the gallery, so I gotta put everything I want to show on the top page :-)

But, should you have a little extra time, you can find more:

Comments about Saturday Afternoon in Medaimae

Ah. Japan. Its cats. Their missing and half-missing tails.

A boyhood chum of mine who spent a couple of years in Tokyo says it's a genetic defect.

I suspect something more sinister, like psychopathic butchers going around at night with their cleavers.

Hi Kevin,

As Tony would say "Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat" pics. As always. You truly have a way with the camera. Do you mind me asking whereabouts in Tokyo do you stay? I only ask because alot of the places you post about are dear to me. Medaimae, Kichiyoji, Shimokitazawa. I am home in England now, but I visit Japan a couple of times a year, for a vacation. I've been 5 times now. But it is still very fresh.

My outlaws live at Tsutsujigaoka, on the keio line. There is no reason to visit (the area, not my inlaws obviously) except there are some very nice botanical gardens somewhere near. Jindai-ji I believe the shrine is called. I recommend it for a Saturday stroll.

The No-Gawa runs past their balcony and it's peaceful when it rains, but sitting here dreaming, it might aswell be on the moon. The grass is always greener eh?

Happy days.

Rudolf, I just think Japannese female cats prefer males with short tails.

Rastafarout, I live in Hamadaya (but closer to Nishieifuku station) My office is in Kichijyouji, and I'm running out of things to take photos of there. Every day I take a bunch between the station and the office in the morning, then more at lunch, and then a bunch at night on the way back to the station. It's getting harder to find anything new, but somehow something keeps popping up.

Just to be flippant for a moment:

Anyone else notice the similarities getween the Bush administration and the Borg?

"Resistance is futile! You will be assimilated into the New World Corporate Order!"

On a serious ending note, the Bush administration has just declared war on everyone else in space. I'm beginning to wonder if these clowns aren't rogue Scientologists who took L. Ron Hubbard's disgusting science-fiction vision of A future and are trying to make it THE future.

Blogging IS time consuming. I spend about 4 hours a day on Lost Remote, from content to maintenance to development. Add that to my full-time TV job and sleep is an oddity.

But it's worth it. I enjoy having an unfiltered voice -- which is a luxury in today's big media world.
